Maybe you’ve tried before and been successful. Maybe you’ve tried several times and come up short. The great thing about coming into 2013 is that for all intents and purposes, the slate is clean. Don’t hang on to patterns of failure or feelings of guilt, press on. This coming year is your year to read the Bible more than you did this year.
Justin Taylor posted an extraordinarily helpful post at the Gospel Coalition blog (two quick asides: 1. As if Mr. Taylor ever posted any other kind! 2. He does a helpful post on Bible reading plans annually). Take the time to read it, even if you don’t intend to use the myriad of options he gives for reading the Bible through (including one humorously named “Bible Reading Plan for Shirkers and Slackers”). Or, maybe one of the plans he lists in that post will be just the thing for you this year!
If not there, head over to YouVersion where they have a seemingly endless list of daily reading plans that can be read in any version you prefer, and with helpful features like daily reminders and an a mobile app.
Also, there are numerous iPhone and Android apps that will help connect you to a reading plan as well.
May God pour out rich blessings on your trip through the Bible in 2013!
